Most families would give
anything for their pet, but the need for emergency care is often
unpredictable. In 2001, several generous clients helped us establish
the Winnie Healthcare Endowment or "Winnie Fund" to provide financial
assistance for qualified families who can't afford the recommended
emergency treatments for their favorite companions.
|
The fund’s
namesake, Winnie, was a loveable black cocker spaniel who started
life homeless. After a local family adopted her, she had six puppies,
and many still live in the Camden area. Winnie’s master remembers
her large, dark, gentle eyes. Winnie, whose owners described her as
a “sweetheart,” died at only eight years old.
Veterinarians and staff
members at Wateree Animal Hospital must approve use of the fund. The
fund is intended for clients who have an exceptional bond with their
pet and case where the clients might need to consider euthanasia because
they are unable to afford the cost of the recommended treatment. Since
2001, The Winnie Fund has helped more than a dozen families enjoy
more time with the pets they love. Contact
Us to send a memorial donation in memory or honor of a friend.
